Senior Energy Analyst Full Time

A Cape Town-based energy trading organisation is seeking a Senior Energy Analyst to join its hybrid team. This is a high-impact role suited to a highly analytical professional who can translate complex energy and market data into actionable insights, while also building and maintaining robust quantitative models that support trading, forecasting, and portfolio optimisation.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Python-based energy and portfolio optimisation models
• Build analytical tools for forecasting, pricing, proposals, and trading support
• Analyse electricity markets, tariffs, regulatory frameworks, and generation data
• Support customer proposals, RFP responses, and commercial engagements
• Design and maintain data pipelines, databases, and automated reporting tools
• Conduct scenario analysis, margin sensitivity modelling, and portfolio evaluation
• Collaborate with internal teams across trading, finance, operations, and growth

Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in quantitative, analytical, or modelling roles
• Advanced Excel and commercial modelling capability
• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field
• Strong problem-solving ability with attention to detail
• Experience in energy, commodities, or pricing/forecasting models advantageous
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment (Cape Town-based, 3 days office / 2 days remote)
