Senior DevOps Engineer Full Time

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the evolution of a modern cloud infrastructure supporting a high-availability financial technology platform. This role offers the opportunity to drive cloud transformation, shape infrastructure strategy, and work with cutting-edge DevOps technologies in a collaborative engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and own large-scale cloud infrastructure initiatives, including AWS migration projects.
• Design, build, and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform.
• Manage and optimise Kubernetes environments across multiple cloud platforms.
• Build and support scalable infrastructure for production systems.
• Implement and maintain cloud security, IAM, secrets management, and compliance controls.
• Lead infrastructure deployments, upgrades, and release processes.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability platforms.
• Drive improvements in reliability, scalability, performance, and cost optimisation.
• Mentor and coordinate DevOps team activities.
• Respond to production incidents and lead root cause resolution.

Minimum Requirements
• 7–10+ years’ commercial DevOps or Cloud Engineering experience.
• Advanced expertise with Terraform.
• Extensive Kubernetes production experience.
• Strong Docker knowledge.
• Significant experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Experience with MySQL/MariaDB and PostgreSQL.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• South African citizen, permanent resident, or authorised to work in South Africa.
Highly Advantageous
• AWS (EKS, RDS, MSK, IAM, Networking).
• GitOps and ArgoCD.
• Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Alertmanager.
• Apache Kafka.
• Regulated financial services or fintech experience.
• GitHub Actions.
