Senior Civil Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to take the lead on civil and structural engineering delivery for utility-scale solar PV developments, including associated BESS and hybrid energy systems. This role focuses on delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective infrastructure from early-stage design through to construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead civil and structural design for PV plant infrastructure including earthworks, drainage, access roads, foundations, and structural supports
• Review and approve geotechnical, hydrological, and topographical studies
• Optimise site layouts to achieve balanced cut-and-fill and reduced construction costs
• Ensure compliance with local and international engineering standards and permitting requirements
• Review contractor designs, method statements, and shop drawings
• Conduct site inspections and resolve civil/structural engineering challenges during construction
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE and quality control standards
• Interface with electrical and mechanical engineering teams for fully coordinated designs
• Support project management with scheduling, cost estimation, and risk management

Requirements:
• BEng/BSc in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Professionally Registered Engineer
• 5–7 years’ experience in civil design and execution on infrastructure or energy projects
• Strong experience in bulk earthworks, stormwater management, and drainage design
• Proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, or similar
• Knowledge of SANS 1200, BS EN 1990, BS 6031 and related standards
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
